2. Your insulated (puffy) jacket, used as a blanket over your sleeping bag
3. Your bivy sac/bag cover

The lightweight design of this system provides maximum versatility for changing conditions and seasons. The sleeping bag and jacket are changeable components, always used with the bivy sac/bag cover. The waterproof, breathable layer provides protection from moisture and adds warmth to the system. Additionally, the sleeping bag cover helps to hold a jacket in place, adding significant insulation and warmth to the system.

Sleeping on Snow

The importance of sufficient ground insulation cannot be overstated. This is particularly true when sleeping on snow.

Example: A typical hot summer day with daytime highs of 70–85°F; camping on snow with overnight low temperatures of 30–40°F. Camper A sleeps warm in a 20–30 degree bag on a full length 5/8" closed–cell pad (weight 18oz). Camper B sleeps cold in a 0–10 degree bag on a three–quarter length 3/8" closed–cell pad (weight 9 oz).…Which bag and pad combination weighs less?
